The nineteenth edition of L'Isola del Cinema ends with the awarding of the Competition

Saturday 7 September Isola del Cinema has chosen to celebrate the final evening of the nineteenth edition along with new emerging filmmakers (which caters always been a particular focus), paying tribute to the City of Rome.
After the extraordinary success of last year, this year L'Isola del Cinema wanted to reconfirm the appointment with the Competition of Short Films "Mamma Roma and its Neighbourhoods", realized with the sponsorship of the City of Rome and the collaboration Libraries in Rome and Maiora Film. The central theme is the story of the many neighborhoods of our city, landmarks and a source of inspiration to many masters of Italian cinema, also Rossellini a Pasolini, also Fellini a De Sica.
For awards shorts finalists during the final evening, on the stage of the great Arena, in the heart of the Tiber Island, climbed the Artistic Director Giorgio Ginori, the President of the Jury Marco Spagnoli, film critic and Director and Fabrizio Berruti, Chief of Staff 'Councillor for Culture of the City of Rome – On. Flavia Barca, who urged the boys and the people of Rome to "continue to film, not to interrupt the story of the city and its neighborhoods, because Roma needs to be told and they want to tell it ... and a demonstration of their talent, the video quality is very good finalists and won a short beautiful ... "
During serata, in front of a room full of spectators from all parts of Rome, the Prize for Best Short Film, the value of one thousand euros, was assigned to the short titled "Do you have a minute”, Alexander Bardani (district Ponte di Nona), Runner-up, “Yo soy ostiense"Marco Trani and Matthew Incognito (Ostiense neighborhood), and a Special Jury Mention went to short "Torre hold 2013"David Melani.
Thus ended the edition 2013 L'Isola del Cinema: This lounge and film lab on the river, che da 19 years welcomes and presents the new tendencies of contemporary cinematography, recorded a turnout of about 300.000 Visitors Tiber Island, projecting 80 evenings over 200 film, 20 national premieres, a cinematic and cultural prominence for 10 international countries (including a world first ), 2 Short film competitions and special events dedicated to the theme of 'Environment and Solidarity.
"Almost 30.000 audience have filled the four cinemas and figures of tickets sold should be added to the free entry of two more rooms and all those tourists and passers-by on the Ponte Fabricio that have been captured from the screen of the Arena, intentionally turned in favor of the bridge…"Said Artistic Director Giorgio Ginori.
In fact, every evening, people discovered the space of L'Isola del Cinema nestled between the domes and the picturesque beauty of the historic center, admiring the big screen as if it were a natural element in the landscape of the Tiber Island.
A big thank you to President of the Italian Republic for your participation in our project and the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alderman of Cultural Affairs and Historical Center of Rome Capital, the Lazio Region for their patronage,and to all the Embassies and the Cultural Institutes who cooperated and helped to consolidate, this year, The Tiber Island as a Living International Film and Culture.
